HITACHI
With a turnover of 7.79 billion US dollars, Hitachi Construction Machinery from Japan ranks fourth. The spin-off of the Hitachi Group started in the early seventies after the production of the first mechanical excavator in Japan.
Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) was founded in 1972 as a European daughter company of Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. The company opened its doors in Oosterhout, the Netherlands, initially with only four employees under the direction of Mr. Okajima.
In 1981 it opened a new parts warehouse in Oosterhout to provide full support for the machines sold in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In the same year it celebrated the sale of the 500th model.
In 1990 it started production of mini excavators at the Oosterhout plant. In the 1990s the number of models grew from two to five, production volume tripled and HCME became one of the leading mini excavator manufacturers in Europe.
The 10,000th Hitachi machine rolled off the assembly line in Amsterdam in 2006. The ZX210LC-3 was one of the first medium-sized Zaxis 3 excavators of the new generation to become known for their reliability, productivity, safety and user comfort.
