KOMATSU
With numerous production facilities and numerous subsidiaries, KOMATSU is one of the largest manufacturers of construction machinery in the world. The product range of KOMATSU’s construction machinery division includes hydraulic excavators such as mini excavators, crawler excavators and bulldozers as well as dump trucks, wheel loaders including backhoe loaders, skid steer loaders and telescopic loaders. The Group is still headquartered in Japan, where it was founded in 1921. Outside Asia and Europe, KOMATSU became one of the most important manufacturers and suppliers of construction machinery when a joint venture with Dresser Industries was established in 1988. Later, cooperation agreements for Europe with major manufacturers of construction machinery such as Cummins and Kalmar followed. Further acquisitions opened the way for the Japanese group into the European markets for forestry machinery, forklift trucks etc. . Through these takeovers and industrial cooperation, KOMATSU took over smaller, European manufacturers of construction machinery and their divisions. These included traditional names such as Hanomag and Demag. However, some years ago all the old brands taken over from the KOMATSU group were replaced by the umbrella brand KOMATSU.
